The Eastern Cape is the second largest of South Africa’s nine provinces. The capital, Port Elizabeth, is also known as the Friendly City and is situated on the Sunshine Coast, on the warm Indian Ocean.
Between Port Elizabeth and East London stretches the Wild Coast, boasting beautiful beaches and more than a million hectares of malaria-free game reserve. The province is home to other beautiful game reserves too, like the Tsitsikamma and Greater Addo, the latter famous for its elephants. The two largest cities of East London and Port Elizabeth are industrial centres with large motor vehicle manufacturing plants (Mercedes-Benz, Opel and Volkswagen) and tyre factories.
